Rep. Williams, Sen. Kane to Host Regional Energy Forum Tuesday, August 26th at Watertown Senior Center

State Representative Sean Williams, R-68^th District,  and state Senator Rob Kane, R-32^nd District, will co-host a free informational forum on state energy issues from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, August 26^th at the Watertown Senior Center, 311 Falls Avenue in the Oakville section of town. 

The legislators will be joined by representatives from Connecticut Light and Power to discuss statewide fuel assistance and conservation programs that can help consumers save money on their energy bills this winter.  The forum is open to the public.  Refreshments will be served. 

“The State of Connecticut needs to do everything we can to help mitigate the effects of skyrocketing energy and gas prices,” Representative Williams said.  “We will attempt to address these issues with legislation in special session, but awareness is also crucial.  That’s what this forum is about.  We want to make sure that constituents who qualify for state tax breaks and assistance programs are applying for and receiving the help they need.”

“This winter is going to be tough for everyone because of the rising cost of home heating fuels, but there are state programs and common sense conservation methods that can help people lower their monthly energy bills,” Senator Kane said.  “This forum will give people a chance to ask questions about applying for state assistance, how to qualify for tax breaks for weatherizing their homes; or whether or not they are eligible to receive rebates for the purchase of fuel efficient furnaces.  Existing programs are going to be expanded when the General Assembly meets in special session, so I urge anyone interested in learning about these changes to also attend.”
