Rep. Williams: Bond Commission Approves Clockwork Repertory Theater Grant

The State Bond Commission has approved a $10,000 grant for an electrical system upgrade for the Clockwork Repertory Theater in Watertown, state Representative Sean Williams said today.

The funding was approved at the Bond Commission’s monthly meeting today (February 29, 2008).

The theater, located in the Oakville section of Watertown, which seats 172, has staged 16 original productions since becoming a theater thirty years ago. The 5,000 square foot building was originally built in 1927 as a community center for workers from the nearby Scovill pin plant, said Representative Williams, R-68th District.

“In any community, the arts play a valuable and important role,” Representative Williams said. “Clockwork has been a great “neighbor” for many years and a source of enrichment for our residents,” Representative Williams said.

Governor Rell thanked Representative Williams for his support of the project.
