Rep. Williams to Senate: Reject Measure Granting In-state Tuition to Illegal Aliens |

Bill Would Help Illegal Immigrants Supplant CT Residents at State Institutions of Higher Learning
The state Senate should either kill or defeat legislation that would grant in-state tuition privileges to illegal aliens who want to attend state institutions of higher learning, state Representative Sean Williams said today.
“It could help people who should not be in the United States at all take the place of Connecticut students who wanted to go to UConn but were not admitted because an illegal alien applied and was admitted instead,” said Representative Williams, R-68th District.
“This bill will mean fewer opportunities and less aid for Connecticut residents who are U.S. citizens and for legal immigrants. It will also mean a higher cost to Connecticut taxpayers since out-of-state tuition is typically two to 3.5 times higher than in-state tuition,” Representative Williams said.
“I urge my colleagues in the state Senate to reject this bill. This legislation is a slap in the face to Connecticut residents who are U.S. citizens and to every immigrant who became a naturalized citizen by following the rules,” Representative Williams said.
