Rep. Williams: House Okays Watertown Resident’s Re-appointment to Gaming Policy Board

Richard P. Antonetti Confirmed on Unanimous Vote

The state House of Representatives Wednesday voted unanimously to confirm Watertown resident Richard P. Antonetti ‘s re-appointment as  a member of the state Gaming Policy Board, state Representative Sean Williams said today.

“Richard Antonetti has served as a member of the state Gaming Policy Board since he was first named to the position in 1999,” said Representative Williams, R-68th District. “In addition to his previous experience as a board member, Mr. Antonetti is a former state representative, a history teacher at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, and an adjunct professor of American History at the University of New Haven.”

We are fortunate that an individual with Mr. Antonetti’s knowledge and experience is committed to continuing his service on this critical and demanding state panel. He was an outstanding choice for the Gaming Board when he was first nominated and has been a dedicated and valuable member since then. I’m proud to have him as a constituent and I’m delighted that Governor Rell re-nominated him. He clearly deserved to be re-appointed,” Representative Williams said.

The Gaming Policy Board is responsible for approving, suspending or revoking gaming licenses; imposing fines on licensees when appropriate; approving the types of pari-mutuel betting permitted in Connecticut; advising the executive director of the Division of Special Revenue regarding the conduct of off-track betting facilities; and advising the Governor on state-wide plans and goals for legalized gambling.
