Rep. Williams and Sen. DeLuca Announce Approval of Grant for Watertown Fields

HARTFORD- State Representative Sean Williams (R-Watertown) and State Senator Louis DeLuca (R-Woodbury) today announced the approval of a reallocation of a grant for upgrades to ball fields in the Watertown.  The grant in the amount of $600,000 was approved by the State Bond Commission at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting this morning in the Legislative Office Building.

The reallocation essentially gives the town the choice of either purchasing open space for the development of athletic fields or utilizing the funds for upgraded to its existing recreational facilities, perhaps the installation of artificial turf.

“Now that this reallocation has been approved, Watertown has the option of installing artificial turf on and making other significant upgrades to the facilities we have there,” said Representative Williams.  “I appreciate the Governor and the Bond Commission considering and approving this reallocation of previous grant funds, and it will be a tremendous benefit to the community.”

“Watertown does a great job of providing services to its residents, so it is always good news for the local taxpayers when we can secure them funding for a project such as these ball field improvements,” said Senator DeLuca. “I thank Governor Rell for recognizing the importance of helping suburban Connecticut towns like Watertown with this kind of grant funding.”
