POLICE CHIEFS HONOR REPRESENTATIVE SCRIBNER

HARTFORD – On Thursday, October 2, The Connecticut Police Chief’s Association (CPCA) honored State Rep. David Scribner, (R-Brookfield, Bethel) for his efforts on behalf of law enforcement. CPCA presented Rep. Scribner its Legislative Award during a ceremony held in New Haven.

CPCA is an organization of almost 600 members. They share the goal of serving those members and the public by increasing the understanding of the role of the police in the criminal justice system and by fostering improvements in law enforcement education, practice and research. Founded in 1934, it is the oldest professional law enforcement association in Connecticut and the only one that represents all of Connecticut's Municipalities.

“David Scribner has always been willing to work to solve crime and safety problems and is especially willing to hear the police point of view,” say Chiefs Anthony Salvatore and James Strillacci, CPCA’s legislative co-chairs.

In bestowing the award, Chiefs Salvatore and Strillacci noted Rep. Scribner:

·        Serves as Ranking Member (House Republican Leader) of the Transportation Committee, and also serves also on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee and Public Health Committee

·        Has been very active in motor vehicle law

·        Co-Authored this year’s teenage driving legislation

·        Introduced legislation to toughen the law on liquor possession by minors

·        Introduced & helped pass this year’s major Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) bill containing scrap metal anti-theft provisions. His understanding and support enabled unanimous endorsement of the bill.

·        Fostered a bi-partisan working relationship not seen in all committees.  This benefits law enforcement and the public in general.

“David Scribner is deserving of this recognition,” said Brookfield Police Chief Robin Montgomery, who attended the ceremony. “His work in crafting the state’s graduated licensing laws and support of numerous law enforcement initiatives are appreciated.”
