SENATOR CAPPIELLO, REPRESENTATIVE SCRIBNER ANNOUNCE GRANT FOR BETHEL LIBRARY

HARTFORD- State Senator David Cappiello (R-24) State Representative David A. Scribner (R-107) today announced the Bethel Public Library will receive an $8,000 grant from the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation as part of the trust’s Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grants program.

The funds will be used toward the restoration of the Seelye Room – formerly the original living room area of the house. This room is the focal point of the house and will become a local history room that will be open to the public.

“This is excellent news for the people of Bethel,” said Rep. Scribner. “The grant funds will be used toward a very worthy project that will make an excellent facility even better.”

"The Bethel Library is a great asset for our community,” said Sen. Cappiello.  “Being able to secure this funding is a great start towards making these improvements possible.”

The Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grants are made possible through a collaboration with the Connecticut Humanities Council’s Cultural Heritage Development Fund, funded by the Connecticut General Assembly. The HPTAG’s are designed to support efforts that help communities plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings and projects throughout the state. In February, the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation awarded a total of $113,000.00 in Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grants.

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation is the only statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the states irreplaceable historic resources. The Connecticut Trust protects the character and beauty of Connecticut’s historic architecture, streetscapes, urban neighborhoods and country landscapes.
