Scribner Applauds Brookfield Water Grant |

Bond Commission Set to Authorize $650,000 for Study; Filters
HARTFORD- State Representative David Scribner (R-Brookfield) today noted that he was pleased that the State Bond Commission was scheduled to take up grant funds in the amount of $650,000 to the town of Brookfield for the purpose of providing potable water. Scribner says he expects the Commission to pass the item at its next meeting.
The grant would allow Brookfield to determine the duration and extent of groundwater pollution and evaluate long term water supply options for the area by performing an engineering study. The town will operate, maintain and monitor the potable water supply with the installation of a GAC Filter System. The town will also install water mains and service connections, abandon wells, and restore surface and pavement to the impacted laurel Hill and Station Road areas. This grant is the most recent installation for the project, which costs approximately $3 million. With this grant, the state will have allocated $1.8 million.
“I thank the Bond Commission and Governor Rell for continuing to make Brookfield a priority,” said Representative Scribner. “These funds will go a long way in improving the availability of potable water in the town of Brookfield, and I have every confidence that the Bond Commission will approve the grant.”
The State Bond Commission is expected to take up the item at their next meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, March 31st, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 1E of the Legislative Office Building.
