Rep. Anne Ruwet thrilled with Web site’s recognition of Torrington as ‘Dreamtown’

State Rep. Anne Ruwet is heralding the recognition by bizjournals.com of Torrington as a ‘Dreamtown.’ According to the bizjournals Web site, a study was conducted to identify the nation's most attractive micropolitan areas. It gave the best marks to well-rounded communities with light traffic, healthy economies, moderate costs of living, impressive housing stocks, strong educational systems, and easy access to big-city attractions.

“The people of Torrington have known for a while that Torrington is a great place to work and live. This ranking by bizjournals.com highlights the quality of life that Torrington residents and those in the greater Torrington area strive for and deserve,” said Rep. Ruwet. “The efforts of all our residents, parents, teachers, students, civic groups, volunteers and officials are being recognized in this survey, and rightly so.”

Each micropolitan area in the study consists of a central city, town or village with 10,000 to 50,000 residents, surrounded by a county or cluster of counties that are economically dependent upon it. Bizjournals analyzed all 140 micros that had 2006 populations of 65,000 or more (encompassing the central community and surrounding area).
