Rep. Anne Ruwet Votes to Secure Funding for Downtown Redevelopment |

State Rep. Anne Ruwet (R-Torrington) today voted in favor of a $2.9 bonding bill that includes $504,875 for Torrington’s downtown redevelopment.
“I am pleased that the governor and legislative leaders have recognized the importance of redeveloping downtown Torrington, and I am pleased to cast my vote in favor of the funding,” said Rep. Ruwet. “This project is important to the future of Torrington, and this funding will help move redevelopment a step closer to reality. This is the right thing to do. ”
Passage of the bonding bill is a victory for the governor, the Republicans and for the taxpayers of Connecticut. The Republicans drove the debate once again, as we did with excessive budget spending.
The legislature has reduced borrowing from levels that were excessive and reckless, yet our school projects and other priorities are included. The supermajority attempted to increase what could be described as the state’s credit card debt by $3.2 billion. That number has now been rolled back by more than $300 million to a fiscally responsible level.
“As we did with the budget, the House Republicans steered the debate, which led to a more palatable bonding package, which I was able to support,” added Ruwet.
