REP. ROWE APPLAUDS RELEASE OF STEAP FUNDS FOR TRUMBULL |

HARTFORD –State Rep. T. R. Rowe, R-Trumbull, today applauded the release of $150,000 in state funding to help pay for work relating to Trumbull Center revitalization efforts at this morning’s meeting of the State Bond Commission.
Work will include the installation of new sidewalks, light posts, iron fences and benches. The funds are being made available through the Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP). STEAP provides financial assistance for projects that encourage economic development and preserve the character of the state’s less populated towns.
“These funds will help us make Trumbull Center shine,” said Rep. Rowe. “Making the Center a vibrant place for business and residents is an important part of ensuring its long-term viability. The STEAP funds really allow us to invest in Trumbull’s future.”
The STEAP program pays for municipal projects that – because of their size – are ineligible to receive Urban Action bond funds. A handful of larger towns have been added to the eligibility list by the Legislature. Today’s allocation for Trumbull was part of $19.7 million released to 72 towns. The funds will enable 83 projects across the state to move forward.
