REP. ROWE: BOND COMMISSION APPROVES RENOVATIONS FOR MERRITT PARKWAY BRIDGE IN TRUMBULL |

HARTFORD –State Rep. T. R. Rowe, R-Trumbull, announced the State Bond Commission today approved $570,000 in renovations to the Merritt Parkway over Reservoir Avenue in Trumbull. The commission approved the allocation during its regular monthly meeting in Hartford.
The project is necessary because the existing metal grate in the median is deteriorating. It is combined with three other Merritt Parkway projects that are scheduled to go to construction in late summer of 2008 and expected to be completed in the Spring of 2011.
Project specifications include the construction of concrete parapets along the median side of the bridge and the beams and steel grate will be removed leaving the "well" area open. Additional parapets will be constructed to protect the drop-off area in the median. Tube railing will be installed in front of the existing right shoulder parapets, which will remain in place.
"I am pleased that this type of preventative maintenance for the Merritt Parkway has been approved,” said Rep. Rowe. “I look forward to the DOT getting this project underway and finishing on time."
