SENATE APPROVES LEGISLATION TO TRANSFER STATE LAND TO TOWN OF TRUMBULL |

HARTFORD- On Wednesday, June 6, the State Senate gave final legislative approval to legislation introduced by State Rep. T.R. Rowe, R-Trumbull, that will transfer state property adjacent to the Merritt Parkway to the Town of Trumbull. The initiative, which was incorporated into House Bill 7386, An Act Concerning The Conveyance Of Certain Parcels Of State Land, now moves to Governor M. Jodi Rell for final approval.
The parcel, consisting of approximately 1.75 acres, is located south of the Merritt Parkway and east of Beech Tree Circle. It is adjacent to a Department of Transportation facility. “The town has indicated an interest in acquiring this property,” said Rep. Rowe. “The legislation requires that the town retain the property as open space.”
"I am very pleased to have been a part of this process and to work with Rep. T.R. Rowe on this most important measure," said Rep. Tom Christiano, D-Trumbull, who co-sponsored the legislation. "I would also like to see the property preserved as open space."
