REPRESENTATIVE ROWE RECEIVES COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS |

Trumbull Legislator To Serve In Leadership Role On Oversight Committee
HARTFORD- As the General Assembly begins its 2007 Session, State Representative T.R Rowe, R-Trumbull, has been appointed by House Republican Leader Lawrence Cafero, R-Norwalk, to serve on several Legislative Committees. Rep. Rowe was elected to his fifth term representing Trumbull on November 7.
Rep. Rowe will serve as Ranking Member of the Legislature’s Regulations Review Committee. Ranking Members serve as the Caucus’ leader on issues before that committee. This committee is responsible for assuring that state agencies adopt regulations to implement state laws that are consistent with the legislature’s objective.
“T.R Rowe has proven his leadership abilities throughout his tenure in Hartford,” said Rep. Cafero. “His attention to detail will be a tremendous asset for not only the Regulations Review Committee but for people throughout Connecticut, whom all our legislation is designed to protect and benefit.”
“I look forward to continuing to serve on the committee and the challenge of this leadership assignment,” said Rep. Rowe. “Ensuring that state agencies adhere to the Legislature’s intent with regard to various state laws and regulations fills a key oversight role in state government.”
Rep. Rowe will also serve on the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee and Select Committee on Housing. The Judiciary Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to courts, judicial procedures, criminal law, probate courts, probation, parole, estates, wills, adoption, divorce, bankruptcy, law libraries, deeds, mortgages, conveyancing, preservation of land records and other public documents, claims against the state and all matters relating to the Judicial Department, the Department of Correction and to the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
The Select Committee on Housing may conduct public hearings, may issue reports of its findings and may originate and report any bill it deems necessary concerning housing. Many of the bills involving affordable housing originate in this committee.
“I am particularly pleased to be reappointed to the Housing Committee because I want to continue to be a leader in the efforts to repeal or profoundly reform the state’s affordable housing mandates,” said Rep. Rowe.
