Rep. John Piscopo helps secure $150,000 for fire training school

At its monthly meeting in Hartford on Aug. 4, the state Bond Commission awarded $150,000 for improvements to the regional fire training school in Burrville.

State Rep. John Piscopo (R-Thomaston) thanked the bond commission for its approval of the needed funding.

“The fire school plays a key role in the training many of firefighters in the Northwest Corner,” said Rep. Piscopo. “The school has been in need of repairs for some time, and I am glad to have played a role in securing the bonding funds for the facility.”

The fire training school, which is used by a number of fire departments throughout Litchfield County, is located at 606 Burr Mountain Road in the Burville section of Torrington.
