REP. O’NEILL LEADS MEMORIAL IN STATE HOUSE FOR CAROL A. HERSKOWITZ

 

Former Southbury State Legislator, First Selectman Died May 19

 

HARTFORD – State Rep. Arthur J. O’Neill, R-Southbury, today led a memorial observation of former State Representative and Southbury First Selectman Carol A. Herskowitz in the House of Representatives Chamber. Members of Herskowitz’ family present for the event included her husband Jerald, daughters Lisa and Jeri and son Sean.

 

Southbury officials attending included Tax Collector Penny Cognato, Town Clerk Virgina Salisbury, former First Selectman Alfio Candido and former First Selectman’s Secretary Rene Blum.  The House of Representatives today also approved House Joint Resolution 165, which noted Herskowitz’ dedication to her community and accomplishments as State Representative and First Selectman. As First Selectman, her most memorable accomplishment was her defense of Southbury against false Indian land claims. Rep. O’Neill succeeded her in the Legislature.
