O’Neill Receives Perfect 100% Pro-Environment Score

State Environmental Group Releases 2006 Legislative Ratings

HARTFORD- State Representative Arthur J. O’Neill (R-Southbury) announced today that he has received a perfect 100% score by the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) for the 2006 legislative session.  The bipartisan group annually cross-evaluates the individual votes of members of the General Assembly, scoring them on their votes on particular pieces of legislation which are either friendly to the environment in Connecticut, or are dangerous to our land, water and wildlife.  O’Neill was one of only five members of the House Republican Caucus to achieve a perfect pro-environment score from the group.

The CTLVC’s mission is to protect the environment by making it a top priority with Connecticut’s elected and appointed officials, political candidates and voters.  They lobby the General Assembly in an effort to hold legislators accountable to the pro-environment agenda.

“I am pleased to receive this score from CTLVC,” said Representative O’Neill.  “Proper stewardship of the environment has always been a top priority of mine while I have served in the legislature, and I will continue to work toward the goal of making Connecticut environmentally cleaner, safer, and healthier.”

Among the bills that legislators were scored on during the past session which Representative O’Neill supported were environmental reviews of state land before transfer, high performance energy efficient “green” buildings, clean diesel and biodiesel, and natural gas and oil conservation measures.
