Reps Noujaim, D’Amelio: Bond Commission Okays Grants for Mattatuck Museum, Child Guidance Clinic

Grants for the Mattatuck Museum and the Child Guidance Clinic of Greater Waterbury have been approved by the State Bond Commission, state representatives Selim Noujaim and Anthony J. D’Amelio announced today.

The grants were approved at the Bond Commission’s regular monthly meeting today (June 29, 2007), the legislators said.

“The Mattatuck Museum is a showcase of the history of Waterbury,” said Representative Noujaim, R-74^th District. “I’m very pleased that the Bond Commission has acted favorably on this funding. It will help the museum in its mission to highlight the success of our city. The Child Guidance Clinic of Greater Waterbury supports abused and underprivileged children as evidenced by the fact that its executive director, Gary Steck recently received a community service award from the Rivera Memorial Foundation.”

“I’d like to thank Governor Rell for supporting these important investments in the Mattatuck Museum and the Child Guidance Clinic,” said Representative D’Amelio, R-71^st District. “I’d like to congratulate the museum directors for their hard work and efforts in securing this grant. It will ensure the museum’s expansion program moves ahead on schedule. The project will benefit both the museum and the thousands of people who visit it every year. It will make the Mattatuck Museum a more exciting and vibrant place for everyone.”

The Bond Commission approved:

• A $750,000 grant for the Mattatuck Museum to help fund the construction of new exhibits, parking improvements and security upgrades.
• A $12,888 grant for the Child Guidance Clinic of Greater Waterbury that will fund the acquisition and installation of a fence to surround the pool at the facility.
