Grant would Pay for New Computers and Networking Equipment
The State Bond Commission has approved a $294,261 grant for W. F. Kaynor Technical High School that will pay for new computers and networking equipment for the school, state Representative Selim G. Noujaim announced today
The Bond Commission approved the grant at its regular monthly meeting today at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, said Representative Noujaim, R-Waterbury.
“Kaynor Technical High School has been an invaluable resource for employers in the Greater Waterbury area for many years,” said Representative Noujaim, R-Waterbury. “The new computers and related equipment this grant will fund will help its students acquire the advanced skills area companies are seeking. It will help ensure a steady demand for Kaynor Tech graduates throughout the Greater Waterbury area and rewarding careers for the young people who enroll at the school in the years to come.”
“We are currently in the process of renovating and expanding Kaynor Technical High School, a project that should be completed in June 2009,” said Principal Robert Axon. “The advanced computers and networking equipment this grant will enable us to install will help make Kaynor Tech a state of the art school second to none in the Greater Waterbury area. After the work is completed, we will be better able to respond to changes in the job market with respect to new technology. From our automotive students who work on complex systems for new cars and trucks to our drafting students who work with high tech software to our teachers in the classroom, having the most up to date computer equipment available will enable each of our students to achieve at the highest level.”
