Rep. Miner: $190,000 in STEAP grants for Bethlehem |

State Rep. Craig Miner (R-Litchfield) today announced that the town of Bethlehem was awarded $190,000 in state grants to construct sidewalks and rehabilitate parking in the area of Town Hall. Also funded through the grants is a playscape at the Bethlehem town beach.
The funds are being awarded through the Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP). STEAP provides financial assistance for projects that encourage economic development and preserve the character of the state’s less-populated towns.
“The town of Bethlehem has been working hard on making improvements around the Town Hall complex, and these monies, combined with other grants announced last year, should go a long way to helping complete improvements in this heavily-used area,” said Rep. Miner. “The funds approved by Gov. Rell and the bond commission will also help fund a playscape included in the STEAP request from town officials.”
More than $19.7 million in STEAP funds for 72 towns were proposed for approval on the Bond Commission agenda on Friday, March 28. The funds will enable 83 projects across the state to move forward.
