Miller Tapped for Key Committees

Environment and Housing Issues Are Top Priorities

HARTFORD- Newly-Elected House Republican Leader Lawrence Cafero, Jr. (R-142) has appointed State Representative Larry Miller (R-122) as Ranking Member on the legislature’s Housing Committee.  He will also serve as a member of the Environment and Energy & Technology Committees.

“These are three critical areas where state government has failed its citizens,” said Representative Miller.  “Connecticut’s affordable housing laws are convoluted, unworkable, and completely without parity.  Also, the state’s handling of major pollution-control initiatives and energy reform issues has been ineffective.  I am honored by the Minority Leader’s faith in my abilities to serve on these committees, and I look forward to working with my colleagues, the Department of Environment Protection and other state agencies to begin finding real solutions to serious issues.”

“I have am very confident that Larry Miller will be an effective Ranking Member on the Housing Committee,” said Representative Cafero. “I know that his experience and detailed knowledge on the issues before this committee and the Environment and Energy & Technology Committees will be a tremendous asset to those committees, making their deliberations more informed, which should result in better legislation.  Representative Miller has been one of the earliest and longest proponents of reducing diesel emissions in the legislature, as well as innovative and cleaner energy solutions.  His input will be essential on all these committees.”

Representative Miller is currently serving his 9th term representing the 122nd district which includes parts of Stratford and Shelton.
