Kalinowski Gets Funds for Lake Beseck |

Funds Will Improve Water Quality in Middlefield Lake
HARTFORD- State Representative Ray Kalinowski (R-100th Dist.) has obtained $87,805 in funds for improvements at Lake Beseck in Middlefield. The funds are part of the bonding package approved by the legislature earlier this week, and will be used for water quality improvements and other location enhancements through the Lake Beseck Association.
“The folks who live along Lake Beseck have had some rough times,” said Representative Kalinowski. “These funds will go toward further improvements to the conditions in and around Lake Beseck, and assist those who live along the area.”
Last year Representative Kalinowski successfully passed legislation that addressed a long-standing problem with winter ice damage to docks, ramps, stairs and retaining walls due to fluctuating ice levels. His bill requires a three-foot draw down in lake levels during even numbered years and six-foot draw down levels in odd years, and required an agreement between the Department of Environmental Protection and the Town of Middlefield in conjunction with the Lake Beseck Association.
“This further assistance is aimed at helping the people who live in the Lake Beseck area, and assuring that the environmental quality of the Lake is improved, and the health, safety and well-being of residents is protected,” said Kalinowski.
The bond package now goes before Governor M. Jodi Rell who has indicated she will sign it.
Representative Kalinowski serves the 100th Assembly District, which includes Middletown, Middlefield and Durham, in the State House of Representatives.
