REP. HOVEY NAMED TO STATE ZOOLOGICAL BOARD

State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-Monroe, Newtown) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Connecticut Zoological Society’s Board of Directors.  The society owns and operates the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport. The Board of Directors assists the administration with operations and helps raise awareness and funds for the Zoo. It also assists in promoting Zoo activities.

The facility is open year-round and exhibits primarily North and South American animals, including many endangered and threatened species. Highlights include a New World Tropics rainforest, Carousel, New England Farmyard, and Victorian Greenhouse. It is accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA).

“I am thrilled to receive this appointment,” said Rep. Hovey. “Many of my constituents visit the Beardsley Zoo and I personally love to have lunch there, spending time at my favorite exhibits. The zoo is so important to Connecticut families and I look forward to helping the Zoological Society in its efforts.”
