REP. HOVEY: AREA RESIDENTS APPOINTED TO STATE PANELS

State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-Monroe, Newtown) today announced that Robert Mitchell has been appointed to serve on the Long Island Sound Liquefied Natural Gas Task Force and Gail Kosakowski has been appointed to the Equine Advisory Council. Mitchell, of Stratford, and Kosakowski, of Oxford, were appointed by State House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. (R-Norwalk) at the recommendation of Rep. Hovey.

The Long Island Sound Liquefied Natural Gas Task Force has been charged with reviewing the LNG project in Long Island Sound in order to protect Connecticut residents. It analyzes the environmental, public health, safety, industrialization, economic and homeland security implications of the proposal on the State and collaborates with the appropriate state agencies.

The Equine Advisory Council was created by legislation introduced by Rep. Hovey in 2007. It was established to help the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) study state horse trail preservation. The council's membership consists of the Connecticut Horse Council president and six representatives from an organization that serves the state's horse industry.

Mitchell has served as an attorney for several law firms since 1978, specializing in labor and employment issues. Kosakowski is a longtime, avid equestrian who is a member of the Connecticut Horse Council.

“I am confident that Robert Mitchell and Gail Kosakowski will be assets to their respective panels and am thankful to Representative Cafero for making the appointments,” said Rep. Hovey.
