REP. HOVEY: MONROE PROGRAM RECEIVES STATE GRANT |

State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-Monroe, Newtown) today announced the state Commission on Culture and Tourism has awarded Fanfare Concerts, of Monroe, a $2,121 grant. The funds were recently awarded as part of matching arts grants provided to 157 non-profit organizations throughout Connecticut. Grant applications were evaluated on quality and artistic merit, community involvement, sound organizational management, planning and evaluation practices and fiscal responsibility.
Fanfare Concerts is dedicated to the research, publication, performance and recording of Baroque music composed prior to the 19th Century, much of which is available only in handwritten manuscripts that the group researches, transcribes, records, and performs for audiences in Connecticut and elsewhere in the United States, Representative Hovey said.
According to Fanfare Concerts, the grant will help the organization present concerts, complete recordings and unique programs to local school children. As a result of the state grant, it has been able to secure a residency grant from Chamber Music America to continue the school programs.
“I’m pleased Fanfare Concerts has received this funding,” said Rep. Hovey. “Its productions make an important contribution to the local arts community and it is very deserving of the grant.”
The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism promotes Connecticut’s cultural and tourism assets in order to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality of the state.
