State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-Monroe, Newtown) today announced that Gary Scrofani, of Monroe, has been appointed to serve on the Connecticut Advisory Council For School Administrator Professionals. Scrofani, who was appointed by State House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. (R-Norwalk) at the recommendation of Rep. Hovey, will represent the state’s business community on the panel.

The council is comprised of 17 members who advise the State Board of Education, the Governor and the Legislature’s Education Committee regarding matters related to administrator preparation, training, certification, professional development, assessment and evaluation and professional discipline. The council also reviews and comments upon all regulations and other standards concerning the approval of administrator preparation programs and administrator certification and annually reports on its activities and recommendations concerning the condition of the school administrator profession.

Mr. Scrofani, who holds a degree in business administration from Sacred Heart University, has an extensive business background, having served in a variety of management positions in Connecticut for more than 25 years. He currently serves as president and chief operating officer of CompIntelligence, a Monroe-based business consulting firm.

“I am excited to learn Gary Scrofani will be serving on the council,” said Rep. Hovey. “He has always been a thoughtful, articulate individual who will bring a moderate voice to the council. We can count on him not only to advocate for a professional sense of high standards but also a willingness to help create a positive plan for action to achieve those high standards. I am thankful to Representative Cafero for making this appointment.”

Scrofani’s appointment will last two years.
