Rep. Hovey Appointed Eastern Regional Director for Women in Government

 

State Representative DebraLee Hovey, R-112th District, has been appointed Eastern Regional Director for Women in Government.

“This is truly an honor,” Representative Hovey said. “I look forward to the challenge of working with women legislators from Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, and Delaware – as well as with my colleagues in the Connecticut General Assembly. As a group, we are sensitive, tenacious and dedicated to accomplishing great things for the people of our states.”

There are four regional directors for Women in Government: southern, mid-western, eastern and western.

As eastern director, Representative Hovey will assist in organizing the regional conference; help identify top legislative issues to be addressed in educational workshops at the regional conference; attend all conferences; and encourage other members to attend and take an active part in them. As the eastern regional director, Representative Hovey also is a member of Women in Government’s Board of Directors and will be attending all board meetings.

Women in Government is a national 501 (c) (3), non-profit, bi-partisan organization of women state legislators providing leadership opportunities, networking, expert forums and educational resources to address and resolve complex policy issues. Women in Government leads the nation with a bold, courageous and passionate vision that empowers and mobilizes all women legislators to effect sound policy.

Representative Hovey, who represents Monroe and part of Newtown, was appointed to the position at Women in Government’s National Annual Meeting January 5th in Phoenix, Arizona.
