Harkins Honored by Bridgeport Regional Business Council

STRATFORD- State Representative John Harkins (R-Stratford) was named “2008 AT&T Regional Elected Official” at the 134th Annual Meeting of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.  The event was held at the Trumbull Marriott during the afternoon on Monday, June 9th.

The Bridgeport Regional Business Council is comprised of the Bridgeport, Stratford and Trumbull Chambers of Commerce, Leadership Greater Bridgeport and the Women’s Leadership Council.  Its existence and make-up provide local and state businesses every opportunity to grow and succeed thus enabling our community to thrive.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Harkins.  “The BRBC is a critical partner in the effort to improve the business climate in this region and giving our towns the advantages they need to compete in today’s economic reality.  It is crucial that we maintain jobs and strive to bring more business into our region and town.  Our present economic uncertainty makes it that much more important that our policies in our state foster job creation and not business flight.”

Harkins was recognized by BRBC for his “diligence, broad perspective, focus on the issues, and solid skills” that make him an “asset for the whole region. He has a strong record of constituent service and working well in a bi-partisan manner.”

Harkins currently serves as co-chairman of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council’s Legislative Caucus.
