National Guard Association Honors Representative Greene

Legislator Honored For Supporting Legislation Benefiting Troops, Families

On Saturday, March 25, The National Guard Association of Connecticut (NGACT) bestowed its Meritorious Service Award on State Rep. Len Greene, R-105th. The award was given during the organization’s annual awards banquet in Rocky Hill, CT.

NGACT is a private, non-profit organization that advocates for increased and improved benefits for national guardsmen, retirees and their families. The Meritorious Service Award is given to individuals, firms and organizations in recognition of outstanding service in support of the Connecticut National Guard and/or NGACT. Debbie Newton, NGACT President, said during the past several years, Rep. Greene has been especially helpful to the organization in teaching members the legislative process at the state level.

“Len Greene educated us to the point where we were able to get 15 out of 17 pieces of legislation signed into law,” said Newton. “He has also supported almost every piece of legislation the Connecticut military department has had before the General Assembly. He has been so supportive of everything we’ve tried to do.”

“The Connecticut National Guard has become part of our front line troops in Iraq,” said Rep. Greene, who serves on the Legislature’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. “We need to do everything we can to support these troops and their families, who make tremendous sacrifices to protect the freedoms we all enjoy.”

Rep. Greene represents Ansonia, Beacon Falls and Seymour in the House of Representatives
