VFW to Honor Marilyn Giuliano |

Post 1467 representing Lyme and Old Lyme will present its Civilian Award September 22 recognizing Rep. Giuliano’s work on behalf of veterans.
Old Lyme--The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1467 will honor state Rep. Marilyn Giuliano for her deep interest and support of Shoreline area veterans and veterans’ issues at a dinner to be held September 22 at the Lymes’ Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Road in Old Lyme.
The VFW post will present her with its Civilian Award, especially established for citizens who have made a special contribution to veterans’ affairs. The award originally was to be presented at the VFW post’s June meeting but was postponed because the legislature was in Hartford at that time, meeting in special session.
Tom Clements, the VFW post’s service officer and a World War II Army veteran, said “We wanted to pay our respects for what she’s done for veterans in this area. She’s been most informative about issues that affect veterans. She organized the regional Flag Day veterans’ event in Old Saybrook and she makes sure we have Connecticut flags to fly. This award is a token for her work on behalf of the veterans of Lyme and Old Lyme.”
Richard Younger, the VFW post commander, added, “It’s a very well earned recognition for Marilyn. She does a lot for veterans and we appreciate that.”
State Rep. Marilyn Giuliano serves the 23rd Assembly District of Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook in the state House of Representatives.
