Rep. Giuliano Organizes Veterans’ Medal Ceremony |

Veterans from Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook to be Honored
Old Saybrook--State Rep. Marilyn R. Giuliano, R-23rd District, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook, will host a ceremony honoring Shoreline veterans of the armed services who served during America’s armed conflicts.
More than 1,260 letters have been sent to veterans in Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook, inviting them to attend the event and to receive the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal.
Connecticut offers a Wartime Service Medal to all veterans of the armed forces with qualifying military service who are currently residents of the state. Rep. Giuliano is encouraging veterans to apply for the medal and to receive it at a local Shoreline ceremony.
The event will take place June 14, Flag Day, at Old Saybrook High School at a time to be announced.
Officials from the towns of Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook as well as members of the towns’ state legislative delegations will be invited to participate. The Commissioner of the State Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Linda Spoonster Schwartz, will preside over the event.
“This is an important event honoring the sacrifice, patriotism and valor of many of the members of the Shoreline communities,” said Rep. Giuliano. “Flag Day will be an appropriate day to recognize the men and women who answered our nation’s call to help defend liberty and freedom. I am honored to be a part of this ceremony honoring those in our communities who served.”
Rep. Giuliano is helping to organize the event, similar to one which has been held in other areas of the state.
For further information on the award, the application process or the event, please contact Rep. Giuliano’s Capitol office at 1-800-842-1423.
Marilyn Giuliano serves the 23rd Assembly District of Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and part of Westbrook in the state House of Representatives.
