Gov. Rell, Rep. Giuliano: $650,000 In STEAP Grants Approved for Town Woods Park Soccer, Baseball Fields |

The State Bond Commission has approved grants totaling $650,000 for the completion of baseball and soccer fields at Town Woods Park in Lyme and Old Lyme, Governor M. Jodi Rell and state Representative Marilyn Giuliano, R-23rd District, announced today.
The park, owned jointly by both towns, is located on Town Woods Road.
The funding, which comes from the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), was approved at today’s (October 6, 2006) Bond Commission.
Each town received $325,000 in funding. The communities will combine the grants to complete the project.
“Residents of Lyme and Old Lyme will soon be enjoying an expanded recreation area that will benefit both towns for years to come,” said Governor Rell. “Three new athletic fields represent a thoughtful investment that will pay off in a big way for these communities. A healthy partnership forged between Lyme and Old Lyme continues to bring outstanding benefits to the families who live in these shore towns.”
“The completion of these athletic fields brings added benefits to our towns,” Representative Giuliano said. “Town Woods Park has long held a place of pride and we are thrilled that Governor Rell also recognizes the value of this recreational treasure. The investments we make today will benefit residents for years to come.”
A total of $20 million was authorized for more than 100 small towns under the STEAP program this fiscal year.
