REPRESENTATIVE GIEGLER SECURES STATE GRANT FOR RED CROSS |

State Rep. Janice R. Giegler, R-Danbury, has secured a $3,000 grant for the American Red Cross of Western Connecticut. The grant, which has been provided by the state Office of Policy and Management, will be used for senior disaster preparedness. It will cover the costs of preparing, printing and distributing pamphlets specifically designed for seniors that will be provided at area senior centers, libraries and by local organizations.
“We greatly appreciate Representative Giegler’s gracious support of the work and mission of the American Red Cross here in western Connecticut,” said Stephen Woods, Chapter Executive of the American Red Cross of Western Connecticut. “These funds will be used to help senior citizens in our area prepare for disasters and other emergencies.”
The American Red Cross of Western Connecticut serves 17 towns from Salisbury to Ridgefield with more than 500 volunteers. The Chapter supports thousands of individuals every year through disaster assistance, health and safety preparedness programs, blood services, medical transportation, services to military families, a senior volunteer program and the Lifeline personal response system.
“After contacting the Red Cross to ask about any projects they had planned that could benefit seniors in our area, I am pleased we were able to secure the grant to bring this to fruition,” said Rep. Giegler.
