Rep. Giegler Honored by Statewide Parenting Organization

State Representative Janice Giegler, R-138, was honored on Tuesday, February 21 by the Shared Parenting Council of Connecticut (SPC) at a ceremony at the State Capitol. The organization bestowed its ‘Outstanding Legislator’ award on Rep. Giegler during the event.

The SPC works with Legislature, nonprofit groups and lobbying groups to promote changes in Connecticut's judicial system that will better serve children. Rep. Giegler serves as a member of the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee.

The Parenting Council’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to honor Rep. Giegler with the award at a meeting last July. It cited her support for Public Act 05-258, enacted in 2005, which made several changes in child custody, support, and visitation statutes to better address the needs of children.

“I am honored to have been chosen by the parenting council to receive this award on behalf of Connecticut children,” said Rep. Giegler. “The Legislature must continue to work to ensure that the sensitive issues that impact our most vulnerable population are being addressed.”
