Rep. Gibbons: $6,200 Grant Okayed for Greenwich Historical Society |

A $6,200 grant has been awarded to the Historical Society of The Town of Greenwich to help pay for the expansion of the organization’s landmarks program and establish a preservation education initiative to further the objectives of the landmarks program, state Representative Lile R. Gibbons, R-150th District, announced today.
The Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grant, which was approved by the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, will be used by the historical society to expand its Signs of the Times program, which identifies historic sites and structures in town, and to enhance public awareness about the program, Representative Gibbons said.
"The Historical Society is one of Greenwich’s jewels,” Representative Gibbons said. “It functions as both the repository of our town's history and as an educational institution that gives our children the opportunity to learn more about Greenwich’s founders and how and why Greenwich became the community it is today."
Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grants, which are funded through the Connecticut Humanities Council’s Cultural Heritage Development Program, provide funding for preservation projects and preservation-oriented community planning, Representative Gibbons said.
