GREENWICH DELEGATION: APPLAUDS GREENWICH FAMILY YMCA STATE GRANT

 

GREENWICH – State Representatives Livvy R. Floren, R-149th District, Lile R. Gibbons, R-150th District and Claudia “Dolly” Powers, R- 151st District today thanked Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s administration for the anticipated approval of $489,000 in state bond money for the Greenwich Family YMCA.

 

The Governor’s office said it expects the money to be released on March 28 when the state Bond Commission meets.

 

“Governor Rell recognizes the need to invest in our local YMCA providing more opportunities for our youth,” Floren said.

 

The state grant permits the Greenwich Family YMCA to assist with alterations, renovations and additions to its childcare facility to accommodate 60 new slots. The Greenwich Family YMCA has been a community partner with the town promoting positive values through programs that build healthy kids and strong families.

 

Rep. Powers said, “Once again Governor is stepping forward for our children and historical YMCA which helps to maintain a fundamental character in our community.”

 

"Finding excellent and affordable childcare is one of the most important factors for working moms and dads today.  This grant enables the Greenwich Family YMCA to be a major provider in this crucial area," said Rep. Gibbons.
