REP. FLOREN PRESENTS: PCSW AWARD TO HIGH SCHOOLER GRACE ELIZABETH HIRSHORN

State Rep. Livvy R. Floren was on hand at the annual Making Women Visible Day, February 21st at the State Capitol, to present Greenwich resident, Grace Elizabeth Hirshorn, with her first place award in the statewide essay contest sponsored by the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW).

PCSW’s Young Women's Leadership Program, sponsored an essay contest for high school freshmen asking the question about gender disparity.

Grace Elizabeth Hirshorn is in the ninth grade at the Convent of the Sacred Heart School in Greenwich.

Rep. Floren said, “Ms. Hirshorn’s award-winning essay examines the glass ceiling and progress women have made in the working world: ‘Why men are paid more than women? Are there consequences for women when they are paid less? And how can we work towards ensuring equal pay for men and women”? This award is a tribute to Grace, her family, her teachers and her school. Congratulations.”
