GREENWICH DELEGATION: GREENWICH FAMILY YMCA RECEIVES STATE GRANT

GREENWICH – State Representatives Livvy R. Floren, R-149th District, Lile R. Gibbons, R-150th District and Claudia “Dolly” Powers, R- 151st District have announced that the Greenwich Family YMCA has received a $200,000 grant from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.

Rep. Floren said, “This beautifully restored and enlarged landmark building in the heart of town provides important educational and recreational programs for people of all ages."

The state grant permits the Greenwich Family YMCA to move forward with the following restoration projects:

Rep. Powers said, “The Greenwich Family YMCA’s history is long and deep in our community and we’re delighted to leverage state dollars for their continued renovation.”

The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism grant must be matched at least (1 to 1) with private monies. The award of state grants dollars allows the Greenwich Family YMCA to demonstrate to private contributors that the program is worthwhile enough to donate to due to the state investment.

Rep. Gibbons said, “I’m gratified the state recognized what a gem we have with the Greenwich Family YMCA and the importance of restoring this historic building.”
