REP. FLOREN SUPPORTS GREENWICH LAND CONVEYANCE |

“Preserves Land in Greenwich”
Hartford- State Rep. Livvy R. Floren (R-Greenwich) today announced passage by the House of Representatives of an omnibus land conveyance bill that contains a section for the town of Greenwich.
HB-7386, contains a section that conveys a 4.35 acre parcel of land on Lake Ave just south of the Merritt Parkway overpass, from the Department of Transportation to the town of Greenwich at no cost to the town. The property will be used for open space and passive recreational purposes. The town of Greenwich requested this conveyance to maintain the natural tree buffer between the residential neighborhood and the parkway.
“Because artificial noise barriers cannot be constructed along the Merritt Parkway as they can along other interstate highways in Connecticut because this limited access highway is included in the National Register of Historic Places, these wooded areas also serve as natural noise and air pollution barriers. The transfer of these properties to Greenwich will benefit both the town and the state,” Rep. Floren said.
Rep. Floren concluded, “I will be closely monitoring the progress of this critical land transfer in the weeks and months ahead. It will be to the long-term benefit of Greenwich. I am dedicated to seeing the land conveyed and preserved in its natural state for the enjoyment of generations to come.
The bill awaits action by the State Senate and the signature by Governor M. Jodi Rell.
