Rep. Richard Ferrari: Regional Refuse Disposal District to get land via conveyance

During the final day of the 2008 regular legislative session, the state House of Representatives passed H.B. 5891, a bill that includes a land transfer of 3.2 acres from the state to the Regional Refuse Disposal District One. The parcels of land being conveyed from the state are located in New Hartford and Barkhamsted.

State Rep. Richard Ferrari (R-62) was a key proponent of getting the land conveyed to the refuse district for potential future economic development opportunities.

“We are happy with the conveyance of this property to the Regional Refuse Disposal District One.,” said Rep. Ferrari. “This transfer of property will allow for the drilling water supply wells and could provide for future economic development opportunities for both Barkhamsted and New Hartford. This transfer was a culmination of the work of the legislature, the administration and local leaders, who are looking ahead to the future of our communities.”

Rep. Ferrari also credited state Rep. George Wilber (D-Colebrook) for helping get this part of the conveyance bill through the General Assembly.

Rep. Ferrari represents Barkhamsted, East Granby, Granby and New Hartford in the General Assembly.
