Rep. Richard Ferrari takes part in energy forum |

State Rep. Richard Ferrari (R-East Granby) and Connecticut House Republicans have launched a series of statewide forums on energy and how state government can help consumers deal with rising electricity prices.
Rep. Ferrari, a longtime member of the Legislature’s Energy and Technology Committee, took part in the initial presentation with the Granby Chamber of Commerce on May 8. The forums are being organized at school auditoriums, town halls, senior centers and other public locations around the state.
Among the solutions discussed at the forum was legislation that will encourage large energy users to create their own electricity and ease some of the burden on the state power grid. Also, Connecticut House Republicans are proposing incentives to stimulate alternative fuels other than natural gas on which the state overwhelmingly depends to generate electricity.
“The legislature’s lack of decisive action is part of the reason we are in this energy crisis,” said Rep. Ferrari. “It is my hope that we can make our presentation to groups throughout the state, get feedback from our constituents, and take that back to Hartford and get something done to ease the energy crunch on consumers. The super-majority Democrats don’t seem too interested in helping people with their skyrocketing energy bills, but it is our goal as House Republicans to change that as best we can.”
