REP. FAHRBACH: KATHERINE MURPHY OF SUFFIELD APPOINTED TO CONNECTICUT ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR TEACHER PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS |

House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward, R-86th District, has appointed Katherine Murphy, of Suffield, to the Connecticut Advisory Council For Teacher Professional Standards, State Representative Ruth C. Fahrbach, R-61st District, announced today. The appointment is a three-year term.
Rep. Fahrbach recommended that Ms. Murphy, who served on the Suffield Board of Education from 1999 to 2003, be named as a member of the council. She was also a founding member of the Coalition Advocating Responsible Education (CARE), which advocated successfully in referenda for the new Suffield High School and reconfiguration of existing schools.
“Over the past ten years, Ms. Murphy has voluntarily participated in many aspects of education in the town of Suffield,” Rep. Fahrbach said. “Her interest and background in education makes her an ideal choice for the Advisory Council and I’m pleased she has been appointed.”
“I hope that your service in this position will be challenging and satisfying. I know that the talent and expertise you bring to it will be of great value and service to our state and its citizens,” Rep. Ward said in a letter to Ms. Murphy informing her of the appointment. “On behalf of the people of Connecticut, please accept my thanks for your willingness to accept the challenge of public service. My congratulations on your appointment to this important post.”
As House Minority Leader, Rep. Ward is responsible under the law that established the council for naming two members to the panel, one of whom must be a public member and one of whom must be a school administrator.
