Rep. DelGobbo Letter of Support for Waterbury Heart Center License Renewal

Dear Commissioner Vogel:

I write today in unequivocal support of the Heart Center of Greater Waterbury’s Certificate of Need (CON) order. 

Simply put, the rationale for the CON, which I believe was undeniably demonstrated in 2005, remains the same.  The Heart Center and the services it provides are absolutely vital to the health, safety and welfare of the residents of this region.  Not only is the Center an essential lifeline to critical cardiac procedures in the Greater Waterbury area, but in my opinion, vital to the viability of its broader healthcare delivery system. 

I am sure your office recognizes the great success of the program, the significant capital expenditures both community hospitals invested to ensure state of the art facilities to support it, and that over 2,400 local community residents have already benefited from its interventional procedures to date.  I hope you will continue your support of this outstanding program, and the opportunity it provides the Greater Waterbury population to access its lifesaving services locally.
