Rep. DelGobbo: Food Bank to Receive $2,500 State Grant

State Representative Kevin M. DelGobbo today announced he has secured a $2,500 state grant for the Ecumenical Food Bank in Naugatuck.

The grant will be used to help make repairs to the food bank’s building on 75 Spring Street.

The food bank discovered last year that it would need to make over $35,000 in structural repairs to the facility to keep it in operation, said Representative DelGobbo, R-Naugatuck.

The food bank has moved ahead with the repairs thanks to the generous support of numerous individuals, civic groups, and businesses in the community, he said.

“I’m very pleased to have helped provide some state support for this organization. It does an amazing job in our community,” Representative DelGobbo said.

Each year the ecumenical food bank provides more than $120,000 in food donations to needy residents, Representative DelGobbo said.

“The food bank is an incredible operation which elicits the support of more than 1,000 volunteers each year from community organizations, scouting groups and school groups, as well as many local residents,” Representative DelGobbo said.
