Capitol Hoops Tournament Raises More Than $10,000 for Vets Who Care Committee

State Representative Kevin M. DelGobbo, R-Naugatuck, today announced that the 20^th Annual John H. Blair Memorial Capitol Basketball Tournament, which was held last week, raised more than $10,000 for the Veterans Who Care Committee, Inc. Representative DelGobbo assists each year in the organization of the event.

Veterans Who Care is a statewide organization that provides assistance to veterans in need and is led by Naugatuck resident Bob Genovese.

A number of area veterans attended the tournament, including Naugatuck Burgess Bob Burns.  Former state Representative Kevin Knowles, who was one of the initial tournament coordinators, also attended.

This year, 12 teams participated, including legislators, staff and other groups. Sponsors, participants and spectators contributed the funds.

Representative DelGobbo serves Naugatuck’s 70^th Assembly District in the state House of Representatives.
