Rep. DelGobbo Says Senior Citizen Nutrition Programs Will Continue |

Funding Issue Had Raised Questions about Meals on Wheels and Senior Lunch Program
State Rep. Kevin M. DelGobbo, R-70th, Naugatuck issued an update
today saying that two Naugatuck senior citizen nutrition programs will remain
intact, after federal and state funding questions have been addressed.
Rep. DelGobbo said the programs that will continue unchanged are Meals on Wheels, where meals are delivered to seniors at their homes, and a congregate nutrition program for seniors who come for lunch at the Naugatuck Senior Center.
“Recently, the state was informed that the federal funding for these programs would be reduced,” said Rep. DelGobbo. “Mayor Ron San Angelo and Deputy Mayor Tamath Rossi got involved and asked the state legislative delegation to address the problem.”
Rep. DelGobbo added, “The State Department of Social Service Commissioner Patricia Wilson-Coker’s office and Deputy Commissioner Claudette Beaulieu shared our concerns about these vital programs. Now, we have been assured the programs will remain intact.”
Rep. DelGobbo said funds have been reallocated and the nutrition programs will continue for Naugatuck senior citizens.
“There had been some question that they might be in jeopardy,” said Rep. DelGobbo. “State officials have informed us that will not be the case, and both nutrition programs will continue.”
Rep. DelGobbo serves the 70th Assembly District of Naugatuck in the state House of Representatives.
