Capitol Hoops Tournament Raises More than $10,000 for Vets Who Care Committee

State Rep. Kevin M. DelGobbo, R-70^th, Naugatuck, announced that the 18^th Annual John H. Blair Memorial Capitol Basketball Tournament, which was held last week, raised more than $10,000 for the Veterans Who Care Committee, Inc.

Veterans Who Care is a statewide organization that provides assistance to veterans in need. The organization, led by Naugatuck resident Bob Genovese, includes a number of Naugatuck area veterans in the organization. Rep. DelGobbo has been involved in the tournament since his election to the state legislature in 1997.

A number of area veterans attended the tournament, as well as former state representative Kevin Knowles, who was one of the initial tournament coordinators.

This year, 12 teams participated, including legislators, staff and other groups. Sponsors, participants and spectators contributed the funds.

State Rep. Kevin M. DelGobbo serves the 70^th assembly district of Naugatuck in the state House of Representatives.
