Rep. DelGobbo Hails State Grants for Naugatuck Economic Development and Senior Center

NAUGATUCK—State Representative Kevin M. DelGobbo (R-70th, Naugatuck) announced that Naugatuck will be the recipient of $217,000 in state grants for a downtown redevelopment plan and improvements to the Naugatuck Senior Center.

Rep. DelGobbo thanked Gov. M. Jodi Rell for supporting the funding and placing it on the agenda of the state Bond Commission.

The Bond Commission meeting in Hartford on September 23 reallocated $178,000 in unused funds to help create a conceptual development plan for the commercial core of downtown Naugatuck.

The Commission also approved a $39,000 grant through the state department of Social Services for improvements to the Naugatuck Senior Center, including replacement of windows, gutters, trim, masonry sealing and related improvements.

“This is great news for Naugatuck,” said Rep. DelGobbo. “Senior citizens will benefit from these much needed improvements to the senior center. In addition, I am ecstatic to finally be moving forward with putting together a broad economic development plan that I believe will transform Naugatuck.”

DelGobbo recognized the efforts of the entire legisltive delegation in making these grants possible. “Representative Labriola, Senators Crisco and Hartley and I have worked together to make projects like these possible,” said Rep. DelGobbo.
