Rep. DelGobbo Elected to Boards of Two Community Organizations

 

Named to Naugatuck Valley Development Corporation and the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls Boards of Directors


NAUGATUCK—State Representative Kevin M. DelGobbo (R-70th, Naugatuck) has been reelected to serve for a third term on the board of directors of the Naugatuck Valley Development Corporation (NVDC) at its annual meeting held last week.

NVDC is a nonprofit entity  formed in 1968 to promote economic development initiatives in the greater Waterbury region. Among the recent projects of the corporation are the  new University of Connecticut Waterbury branch, construction of a new Palace Theater, and a new Waterbury Arts Magnet School.

Rep. DelGobbo also was elected to serve on the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls board of directors. Rep. DelGobbo served as vice chairman of this United Way’s 2003 fundraising campaign that recently met is $450,000 goal to benefit various local nonprofit groups.

Rep. DelGobbo also has been named to serve as chairman of this United Way’s upcoming 2004 fundraising campaign.

The United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls provides financial support to numerous social service agencies and programs in the Naugatuck area, including the Naugatuck YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Literacy Volunteers, Safe Haven of
Waterbury, Naugatuck Little Pals Basketball, local Little Leagues and other groups.

Rep. DelGobbo is serving his fourth term in the state House of Representatives, where he is ranking member of the legislature’s Energy and Technology Committee, and a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and the Public Safety Committee.

In addition, Rep. DelGobbo is a member of the Naugatuck Economic Development Commission and is active in numerous other local community service groups.
