Rep. D’Amelio: House OK’s Waterbury Resident’s Appointment as Workers’ Compensation Commissioner

Former DPUC Commissioner Jack Goldberg of Waterbury Confirmed Unanimously

The state House of Representatives has confirmed Waterbury resident Jack Goldberg’s nomination to be a Workers’ Compensation Commissioner, state Representative Anthony J. D’Amelio said today.

Mr. Goldberg, an attorney who served for several years as a state Department of Public Utility Control commissioner, was confirmed by the House on a unanimous vote Wednesday, said Representative D’Amelio, R-71st District, who supported Mr. Goldberg’s nomination in remarks on the floor of the House.

“Jack Goldberg is a thoughtful, compassionate person who was an effective, fair-minded DPUC commissioner for several years,” Representative D’Amelio said. “Those qualities will serve him well as a Workers Compensation Commissioner, where he will be adjudicating claims for work-related injuries.”

“Jack is one of my constituents and I have known him for many years,” Representative D’Amelio said. “As an attorney he has the ability to look at both sides of an issue and arrive at a decision that is fair and reasonable. Connecticut will be very well-served with Jack Goldberg as a Workers’ Compensation Commissioner.”

In addition to serving as a DPUC commissioner, Mr. Goldberg formerly worked for the House Republican Office and was a reporter for the Republican American, Representative D’Amelio said.
